(She/Her) I am a multi-disciplinary designer with a demonstrated history of working in the theatre and dance industry. A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Performance, I am a jack of all trades that specializes in costume design and construction, and operational management in the arts.
📍 Born and raised on Vancouver Island, I take inspiration from the natural elements of the world, such as organic textures, colours and movement, and love to incorporate them into my work. I am passionate about functional garments that fit well and give the wearer freedom of movement, functional utilities, and power in their body while wearing the garment.
Some goals and growth I want to achieve:
Work with more plus-size and disabled bodies, as I am plus-sized and live with chronic pain.
Reduce my impact on the environment while sourcing costumes and fabric.
Work within the arts in an administrative or operational role to utilize my Project Management skills.
Collaborate with and uplift the LGBTQIA+ and racialized communities through my work.
I am currently pursuing a certificate in Social Media Marketing from George Brown Continuing Education which includes five courses such as Graphic Design for Social Media, Social Media Marketing, and Freelancing for Creative Professionals.
Outside of sewing and costuming I love to play video games and watch twitch streams, design graphics for social media platforms, practice yoga and pilates, and play with my dog, Lo and cat, Andy.
Looking forward to working with you,
Kathleen
